Why I blog #15

Today I am loving -
Watching  my two older boys playing in the back garden as I wash up.
The fact that Joseph has obediently got changed out of his uniform before going outside and his trousers are on back front. Tuesday is PE day and you can guarantee something won't be put on quite right! Today his jumper was inside out over the top of his polo shirt which was on back to front :) How I will miss it when he doesn't put things on back to front; I'm pretty sure this will probably be in line with an age in double figures and time will have seemed to have slipped through my fingers.

Today I am loving -
Listening to the birds singing. Our garden is still very......rustic :) but it has amazing trees at the bottom of it, separately us from the castle Garth. These trees mean we have lots of birds which sometimes mess on my washing - boo, but always sound lovely.
Hearing Ben firmly say to Joseph as he interrupted him ' Dosiff, I am speaking to my Mummy!' I am loving hearing him become so much more confident with words. He now strikes up conversations with Julie next door unprompted. He has things he wants too and can say and I am loving to see our quieter boy become confident in his quieter way.

Today I am loving -
Moments of pure bliss with our four month old. Giggles when I blow raspberries on his tummy and he grabs my hair; gummy smiles ; wide opened eyes when he's told he's handsome (he totally knows it). He thinks I am an amazing lyricist as I create songs about him to tunes varying from Beyonce's 'if you like it' to the gospel classic ' I will follow Him' They are one hit wonders as I have a memory like a sieve and wouldn't be able to recall them. However, they definitely meet with his approval :)

Superheros

Some days, the sun comes out and you get to do something extra special for your boys.
Sometimes, these extra special things are also free which is an added bonus :)

May Day we took the boys, or should I say; 'I' accompanied the boys (Nathan included!) to the Superhero day at The Royal Armouries.
As soon as we walked through the entrance, the boys squealed with excitement when the saw Bobba Fett just casually hanging out in the foyer :)
At times it seemed like they couldn't actually believe their eyes and I'm sure if we'd have left straight after they would have been thoroughly satisfied.

On the first floor, we bumped into a clone fortunately of the friendly type. I'm pretty sure I racked up some 'my wife is not only gorge but cool' points with my correct Star War's character name dropping!

We also bumped into the Parkers and Stilgoes. The children collectively charged around excitedly, we Mums did our best to keep up whilst the Dads seemed to take a more 'Dad- like calm approach' to child shepherding!!

Obi Wan shared some force with us.

and the kids shared some more.

Outside we took a few moments to hang out with Iron man, he'd made the effort to come so it would have seemed rude not too! We even thought it would be polite to have some photos taken with him and if it looks like Nathan has his arm around him that's because he does lol!! I'm not sure this wins him any extra 'my husband is gorge and cool points' but he certainly cracks me up with his boyish ways!

At lunchtime we headed to celebrate Grandad's birthday. He doesn't have a fancy costume or supernatural powers, though he his pretty super and a hero to me and thereby fits well in with the day's theme.

His cake was a-ma-zing; Mum's fruit cake with rocky road on top. The weather was kind and so the grandchildren played for hours in the garden and we got to hang out n chat.
Great day.

(Seth telling Grandad a long tale about the days' events - so very cute)

Owl Tote

This is the second of two owl totes I made for two birthday girls in April. They turned out pretty well to say it was a pattern I made up. I was chuffed to pick up the floral 'Amy Butler esque' at the car boot sale a few weeks back  a whole curtain for a whole £1.50!

Here'e Ben at the party he was invited to and for which I made this bag for him to gift. As thanks (from him to me)I had to watch him lick all the frosting off the scrummy looking cupcake.

The pure cheek of it!!

Why I blog #14

So I've been feeling like I need to write about this for a while. I keep this blog for us a family. I wanted to record the small things which over time would otherwise be forgotten. I want to be able to look back and read ; the funny quotes you all came out with; the moments of craziness; the firsts; the lasts; the adventures and the normal. I also want to have it as a record of our physical but also spiritual growth. So many times in church lessons we are asked to reflect and recall times when certain aspects of gospel living have touched and blessed out lives. Often I sit there and think and think and I know that I have had such experiences but I just can't bring them to my memory at the time. So I need to record them, write them down and so when you ask when I've had an experience I can at least look to this to bring back the memories which have built and edified my testimony.

Over the past months, well since the beginning of 2013 we have been abundantly blessed as a result if tithing. Our testimonies have been strengthened that Heavenly Father does indeed hear our prayers and he does answer them in His time. We have to have faith in His time. We have been praying for the help necessary to get our finances straight for many, many months if not years. With the nature of our jobs it has not nor is it easy to make plans.  Last year was particularly tough especially for Nathan at work. In October we sat down with heavy hearts and questioned why things weren't happening for us the way we needed them to. We both acknowledged that we needed to be stricter personally with our money and set out a strict plan as to how we would claw out way up to stability. The plan would take about 24 months it was going to be tough but worth it. Two months in and we had an accident with the car, the dryer broke and we needed oil. It kind of felt that we'd taken one step forward and three back. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that angels we sent to help us. We don't go publically proclaiming our trials but Heavenly Father knows them and though other people we felt His loving care. Since the beginning of the year or as Nathan points out since Seth has been born financially the windows of Heaven have been opened. Nathan has seen work improve dramatically. We received a very unexpected payout from some mis-selling from the bank that we couldn't even remember having. Through these factors we have been able to make great head way with our plan cutting it down from a 24 month to what we now hope to be only 10 month plan, of which we have only 4 months more to go. I believe Heavenly Father has a plan for our family. His ways are higher than our ways. His time scale is different to ours but His time scale is right. We have grown, we have made mistakes with our planning in the past. We have now adopted habits to help us plan miuch better. I believe tithing is a blessing. I believe when we desire to do what is right Heavenly Father will help us in the way which is best for us. Sometimes that means we have to stay in the slow lane as we have things to learn. Then sometimes it means the fast lane is opened up to us and what seemed like an up hill struggle is over with the blink of an eye.

36 Yea, and acry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thybdoings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever thou goest let it be in the Lord; yea, let all thy cthoughts be directed unto the Lord; yea, let the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever.
37 aCounsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for bgood; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the cmorning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day.

Big Boy can ride a Big Boy Bike

27th April - Joseph rode his new bike for the first time, no stabilisers and peddling. Balance bikes work!
I love it when one of our boys learn something new :)
He was so proud of himself and took great delight putting on a performance for me when I returned from Anabelle's party with Ben.

On note of other firsts during the week of the 22nd; Seth rolled over for the first time and subsequent other times, from his front onto his back. He can also pivot and move backwards in a seal like movement.

Jedi Rules

A Jedi Knight must use his intiative and find a suitable holster for his lightsaber whatever outfit he is wearing, A pull up is perfectly acceptable and can carry a light saber down the back and a blaster (in the form of an Earthling's megaphone) down the front.
A Jedi Knight need not be concerned with the trivial matter of putting one's wellington boots on the right way round.
